1984: The very first venturi, the brainchild of Claude Poiraud and Gerard Godfroy's combined genius, was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The goal was to present the only 'Grand Tourisme' French car, while retaining it's light weight of 850kg for a cylinder capacity of two litres. 2004 celebrates the brand's 20th anniversary on the occasion of the Paris Motor Show: Venturi will once again write a new page in automobile history.Source - Venturi
Symbol of renewal, the Fétish concept-car, unveiled in 2002 at the Geneva International Motor Show, embodies the new turn Venturi has taken in terms of design.
With Fétish, a new concept was launched: a 'light GT' - a real and reasonable sports car.
Presented at the Paris Motor Show the same year, the Fétish concept-car was awarded a Talent du Luxe and was invited by Michelin to be the ambassador of France during the 2003 Detroit Motor Show (Michelin Challenge Design).
Reinforced by public enthusiasm, we had to turn the concept-car into a real production car. 'To create the car of its time' was our slogan for the presentation of the final version of the Fétish at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, coinciding with the brand's 20 th anniversary.
Rather than only celebrating the past and the brand's 20 year automobile history, we have decided to present a production Venturi Fétish even more ambitious than the concept-car: the car of the next 20 years.
We have chosen to be the very first manufacturer to create a production electric sports car.
An electric sports car: Does this seem contradictory? We think not! On the contrary, it is the logical direction given new technologies available and the relative cost of batteries. Fétish has been conceived to be an electric vehicle, with absolutely no compromise on batteries and using the best state of the art technology available world-wide, regardless of price.
We have neither conceived a Venturi's 20 th anniversary car, nor a futuristic vehicle; Fétish is quite simply the car of our times.
This approach represents a complete change in the cultural direction: the passage from a petrol engine to an electric motor, as well as a change in technological references. Our vision places the battery, no longer the engine, at the epicentre of the automobile technological advancement and its performance.
Given the desire to reach the American, European and Japanese markets, the approval norms for the relative countries have been integrated into the project right from the conception.Source - Venturi
