2000 Lola B2K/10

Lola Cars International developed the Lola B2K/10 LeMans Prototype as a replacement for the previous Lola B98/10, and for use in several racing series including the 24 Hours of 24 Hours of Le Mans, American Le Mans Series, Grand American Road Racing Championship, and Sports Racing World Cup.

The Lola B2K/10 shared many design elements with the prior B98/10, including the headlights and front fenders. A third headlight could be added to the middle front nose, in front of the footbox (which had been raised higher than the preceding car), for use in endurance events. There was no intake in the nose as the cooling air was drawn from underneath the car. This design proved problematic on hotter tracks.

The side of the B2K/10 had large openings located between the cockpit and the sidepod which channeled air over the nose and out the side of the car. Some of this air was fed to the radiator intakes located on the side.

The Roush Racing-designed Ford 6.0-liter V8 engine from the prior car continued to power the B98/10. Additional engines could be installed, allowing it to qualify for various types of racing. The other engines included a Porsche 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 and a Judd GV4 4.-liter V10.

The first three of the six examples built were sent customers with different engines. Philip Creighton Motorsport received a Ford-powered chassis, Champion Racing had Porsche power, and Team Rafanelli received the Judd-powered car. Two cars (the Judd and Porsche B2K/10) were entered in the 12 Hours of Sebring, but both failed to finish the race. The Champion car retired late in the race due to suspension issue.
Rafanelli and Champion raced in the American Le Mans Series, later joined by Intersport Racing, who raced a Judd-powered B2K/10 and a B98/10. The best result of the season was by Rafanelli who scored a third place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Creighton Motorsports scored a second place finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car in the Grand American Road Racing Championship. Intersport also scored a second place at Watkins Glen International raceway.

Konrad Motorsport purchased a second Ford-powered chassis and raced in the Sports Racing World Cup late in the season. Its best finish was a third place podium finish at the Nurburgring.

At the 24 Hours of LeMans in 2000, Konrad and Rafanelli entered their cars but neither were able to make it to the finish line.

For the 2001 season, Intersport continued to race in the American Le Mans Series, along with contending a few Grand American Road Racing Championship races. They would score the first victory for the B2K/10 at Phoenix International Raceway, followed by a second win at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Champion Racing moved to GARRC competition, and Rafnelli switched cars and racing classifications completely, acquiring a Ferrari 550 Maranello. Konrad Racing raced a few times with the Lola, but focused more attention on grand tourer racing. Philip Creighton Motorsport raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona but retired early.

Intersport contested the ALMS and GARRC in 2002 with two chassis. Pegasus Racing had acquired Champion Racings Porsche-powered B2K/10 and raced in the GARRC. The best finish for the B2K/10 during the 2002 season was a second place at Homestead-Miami Speedway in GARRC competition by Intersport.

Despite being a little long in the tooth, the B2K/10s returned in 2003, with Intersport racing solely in the American LeMans Series. Taurus Sports Racing had acquired a B2K/10 from Rafanelli and raced in the FIA Sportscar Championship, and a few ALMS races. Despite this being their first season with a B2K/10, Taurus Sports Racing scored a third place finish at Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

2004 would be the final season for the B2K/10. After a DNF at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Taurus Sports Racing added a second chassis to the lineup, powered by a Caterpillar-tuned Volkswagen twin turbocharged V10 engine. This car was intended to LeMans Endurance Series, specifically the 24 Hours of LeMans. After attempting to run the opening race at Monza, the car was brought to LeMans and made it 35 laps before the extreme torque of the engine destroyed the gearbox. The Judd-powered B2K/10 finish the race in 20th place. The diesel-powered car made a final appearance at Silverstone Circuit but was unable to complete the race.

The B2K/10 was replaced in 2001 with the Lola B01/60, followed by the Lola B06/10 in 2006.
