2007 Citroen Nemo

Careful thought went into the design of Nemo whose styling cues are new to the world of commercial vehicles.

The front end features a modern and robust design. The impact is underlined by a bonnet of taut lines with large chevrons, clear-lens headlamps positioned to avoid minor knocks, and a generous wraparound bumper for effective protection.

Viewed from the side, Nemo gives an impression of space and immediately inspires trust. The generous prominent wheel arches are completed by broad side mouldings, sized to provide effective protection against minor knocks.

Seen from the rear, Nemo confirms the qualities suggested by the side view. The rear end is designed to make loading/unloading easy, with its cubic design, low load sill, and rear asymmetrical swing doors for greater convenience in tight spaces.

Dimensions

emo is 3.86 metres long, 1.72 meters wide and 1.72 metres tall (1.78 meters tall with the roof bars available as accessories). This makes it just the right size for nipping in and out of traffic. It also has a tight turning circle of just 10.6 metres.

Sized for urban driving, Nemo also features generous interior space. With a load length of 1.52 m, a width of 1.05 metres between the wheel arches and a maximum height of 1.18 metres, Nemo's loading bay features a load volume of 2.5 m3 behind the front seats. The payload is 610 kg on all versions. For easy loading of heavy objects, the load sill is located at a height of just 53 cm when the vehicle is empty.

Nemo is available with a 'Worksite Pack'. This pack comprises a raised suspension system, 15-inch wheels, a skid plate under the engine, and reinforced side protection (broad side mouldings, side guards, front bumper trim, splash guards). So Nemo can cope with even the roughest terrain, both in the city and in the country.

Practicity

The passenger seat in Nemo, which takes the name of Extenso, is available with two functions for an even wider range of functions. The seatback can be folded horizontally onto the seat cushion, or the entire seat can be stored under the floor. The available length is thus increased to almost 2.50 metres while the load volume is boosted by 0.3 m3 with a total useful volume of close to 2.8 m3.

The protective grid between the cab and the loading bay is modular, and designed to protect the cab across its entire width. If the vehicle is carrying long loads, the section behind the folded Extenso passenger seat pivots towards the driver to provide maximum protection.

Nemo is fitted as standard with rear asymmetrical swing doors. The narrowest door is on the right. This makes it easier to access the back of the van when space is limited. The doors can also be easily opened to 180°.

Nemo is available with one or two sliding side doors to load bulky parcels. The useful height is 1,041 mm for a width of between 410 and 644 mm.

Interior Comfort

A host of useful details make Nemo a vehicle with features worthy of a modern passenger car including:

- well designed ergonomics with controls that fall easily to hand;

- a range of stowage compartments (with up to 12 locations at the front);

- a multi-adjustable driving position: drivers of all shapes and sizes can adjust the steering wheel and seat to find the right position;

- a high-quality audio system with four loudspeakers, including two tweeters;

- pre-equipment for a Bluetooth® telephone.

Engines

The two engines available – the 75 bhp DIN 1.4 litre petrol and the 70 bhp DIN HDi diesel – are highly economical. The diesel engine consumes just 4.5 l/100 km over a combined cycle with CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km, making it the benchmark in the small van segment.

A 5-speed clutchless manual gearbox will become available with the HDi 70 engine during 2008. In the same way as for other Citroën models available with this type of transmission, Nemo will bring its customers the benefits of this system in terms of comfort and safety.

Nemo offers limited maintenance costs with servicing every 30,000 km or two years.

Running Gear

The running gear is designed to ensure excellent road manners in all load conditions while maintaining a level of comfort meeting the requirements of target customers.

The suspension is of the McPherson type at the front with a flexible transverse bar at the rear. The 14-inch wheels (15-inch as an option or with the Worksite Pack) are shod with Michelin tyres.

The braking system, with ABS as standard, comprises vented discs at the front and drums at the rear.

Safety

n addition to a standard driver's airbag, Nemo can be fitted optionally with a front passenger airbag and front side airbags.

Seatbelts with force limiters and pyrotechnic pretensioners are adapted to the airbags. The driver has a seatbelt warning light.

In the same way as on models further up the market, Nemo's loading bay can be locked independently of the cab, using the plip control from the outside or a button on the dashboard on the inside.

At the same time, the doors lock automatically when the car is moving. An indicator on the instrument cluster informs the driver that the doors are unlocked.
