This Watson-built car is mechanically unmolested except for refreshing the paint a number of years ago. It remains as it raced during the 1950s. Don Frieland drove the car to a 7th-place finish in its debut in 1954.
The car was built by A.J. Watson and Jud Phillips and powered by an Offenhauser engine. Jud Phillips was a dealership mechanic who later went on to Indy success including crew-chiefing Bobby Unser's 1968 Indy-winning car.
Bob Estes had owned Indy racers since the very early 1950s.
