1921 Chevrolet Series 490

For the 1921 model year, the Chevrolet Model 490 continued with very few changes over the prior year. It was available as a roadster, touring car, coupe, or sedan. A rolling chassis version was also available. Power was from an overhead-valve four-cylinder engine that offered 26 horsepower and was mated to a three-speed selective sliding gearbox.

Production of the Series 490 lasted from 1915 to 1922. When introduced in 1915, the cost of the car was $490. It was an immediate success. For an additional $60, the buyer would receive an electric lighting and starting system.

The price for the 490 soon fell to $440.

The Model 490 rested on a 102-inch wheelbase and was powered by a 171 cubic-inch four-cylinder engine that was sourced from the Series H and offered 20 horsepower. The Model 490 was squarely aimed at the Model T, in both price and mechanical prowess.
