Sedan

The Dort Motor Car was manufactured from 1915 through 1924 and is typically recognized as being built at facilities in Flint, Mi. Their closed-bodied models were produced in Kalamazoo, MI from 1921 through 1923. Friends William Durant and J. Dallas Dort formed the Durant-Dort Carriage Company in 1886, and when Durant left the firm to purchase Buick and later establish General Motors, it was Dort who supplied financial support for the new endeavor. Dort left the carriage business in 1915 and established the Dort Motor Car Company in Flint the same year. The Dort Body Company was established in Kalamazoo in late 1920 at the former Lull Carriage plant and produced closed bodies for 'Finer Dort Models' through 1923. In 1924, J. Dallas Dort announced his retirement and sold the Kalamazoo plant to Checker Motors and his Flint factory to A.C. Spark Plug. Less than a year later he suffered a fatal heart attack.

The 1922 Dort was powered by a four-cylinder Lycoming engine rated at 30 horsepower. it rested on a 108-inch wheelbase and the 5-Passenger Sedan sold for the sum of $1,195.
