The Hurst Performance made a triumphant return to the high-performance automotive market during 2009 with the introduction of the Hurst/Hemi Challenger SRT8, more commonly known among enthusiasts as simply the Hurst Hemi Challenger. Priced new from approximately $70,000 and capable of sprinting from rest to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, the new Hurst supercar redefined street performance, just as its legendary products of the 1960s and 1970s.
Powered by a 572-horsepower supercharged 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 delivering 528 pavement-melting pounds-feet of torque, mated to a Hurst 'Hard-Drive' performance shifter, this awesome 2009 Dodge Hurst Hemi Challenger is 1 of just 5 Series 5 cars built and it is loaded with every available option. Beginning as a factory-original Challenger SRT-8 purchased new from Woodhouse Dodge in Blair, Nebraska, this car was then shipped to Hurst Performance Vehicles in California and given the full treatment, including the Vortech centrifugal supercharger, which provides steadily rising power output all the way to the 6.1 Hemi's redline. In the hands of skilled drivers able to keep the car's wheelspin to a minimum at launch, the Hurst-massaged Challenger will deliver 11-second quarter-mile ETs. Eibach coil-over shocks and BFGoodrich KDW Performance tires wrapped around 20-inch front and 22-inch rear forged billet aluminum Hurst wheels provide exceptional handling. Engine breathing is further enhanced by a free-flowing K&N air-filter system.
This Challenger is Car number 12 of the 50 Hurst cars built in total and it is rarer still as 1 of the 5 Series 5 examples with all available options. Additional features include the matching custom fabric car cover with gold stripes, Magnaflow dual-exhaust system, and custom dash-mounted boost and ACT gauges with AutoMeter shift light, plus the $2,000-plus upgraded stereo system, which maintains the factory-original look. Just 1,700 miles have been traveled from new.
