Evolutions, Vogue, Aura. The name Evora is derived from these words and represents the image Lotus created for its top-of-the-line model. Revealed at the 2008 British International Motor Show, the new Evora was intended to be a more usable street car which could be a direct competitor to the Porsche 911 series. As a result, it was the only Lotus to adopt a 2+2 seating arrangement, yet still mid-mount the Toyota supplied, Lotus tuned, V6 engine.
To further enhance the practicality of the car, the Evora surrounds the driver with a more supple interior layout. However, the Evora is not to be mistaken for a wallowing, soft, GT car. Even with all of the luxury appointments atypical of the other Lotus cars, the Evora weighs in at a trim 1437 kg. This light weight combined with a fantastically tuned suspension allows the car to continue the Lotus trademark of exceptional handling and performance. Equipped with the 276 horsepower 3.5-liter V6, acceleration is brisk with 60 mph coming in a scan 4.9 seconds. Combined with a top speed of over 160 mph, Lotus keeps its spirited traditions alive and well.
