The Geo Metro was a small and economical vehicle that was based on the Suzuki Swift. Production began in 1989 and continued until 2001. Bodystyles of the first generation included a three- and five-door hatchback as well as a 4-door notchback sedan that was only sold in Canada. In 1990, Geo introduced a convertible body style that remained in production until 1993.

Power was from a three-cylinder engine that offered exceptional fuel economy for the small, lightweight vehicle.
