Vauxhall Ironworks Ltd, famous for its marine engines, began building its first automobile at the turn of the 19th Century. It was a single-cylinder, tiller-steered runabout in 1903. A range of three-cylinder cars with wheel steering followed, the first of which was the 12/14hp in 1904. A 7/9hp model entered production in 1905.
