1955 Willys Jeep

Station Wagon

Introduced in 1946, the first-generation Jeep station wagon was a product of the Willys Motor Company of Toledo, Ohio. The design was created by noted industrialist stylist Brooks Stevens. Production was phased out during the 1965 model year, after a nearly two-decade run.

This versatile all-steel vehicle was marketed as a 'Utility Wagon' instead of a station wagon because Willys wanted the image of a truck builder, not as a car maker. Like the modern SUV versions, it was available in both two-wheel drive and 4x4 configurations.

This particular 1955 Willys Jeep is a 4x4 model. It features the optional 226 cubic-inch 6-cylinder engine of 'L-head' design, built by parent company Kaiser and named the 'Super Hurricane.' A 3-speed manual transmission was standard equipment.
