Jack Rabbit Tourer

The Apperson Brothers Automobile Company debuted the performance-inspired Jack Rabbit nameplate in 1907. The company offered three Jack Rabbit models in 1912, each designated by its horsepower rating: the 4-45 (four-cylinder, 45 horsepower), 4-55 (55 horsepower), and the 4-65 (65 horsepower). This Jack Rabbit is the 4-55 Touring and rides on a 118-inch wheelbase. It sold for $3,000 when new.

About the Apperson Brothers Automobile Company

Elmer and Edgar Apperson of Kokomo entered the automobile business in 1893 when they partnered with Elwood Haynes to construct an automobile. Together they formed the Haynes-Apperson Automobile Company in 1898, but the partnership dissolved in 1901. The Apperson brothers and Haynes went on to form separate companies, and the first Apperson-branded automobiles debuted in 1902.

Apperson's best year was 1916 when 2,000 cars were sold. By the 1920s, Apperson was struggling to compete and the final Apperson automobile was produced in 1926.
