Sport Phaeton
This is a 1917 National Highway Six Sport Phaeton built in Indianapolis, Indiana by the National Motor Car & Vehicle Corporation. It has a six-cylinder engine advertised at 51 hp with a 128-inch wheelbase and sold new for $1,750.00. Only two of the Sport Phaeton models are known to exist. This National was on blocks from 1929 until 1953 and was completely restored in 1966. With the exception of cleaning, polishing, and touch-up, the restoration has survived rather well for over 50 years. Believed to be correct, the odometer shows less than 10,000 miles since new an average of only 100 miles per year. Over 25 original factory documents have survived. Manuals, operating instruction booklets, warranty books, and the original Build Sheet showing a build date of June 2, 1917. In 1912 Joe Dawson drove a National to victory in the Indianapolis 500.
