Convertible Tourer

Lanchester moved away from its single model policy and introduced a smaller 21 HP car at the 1923 Olympia Motor Show. As with all Lanchesters, the car was superbly engineered, with a smooth 6-cylinder overhead valve engine that was virtually silent. The car was also remarkably reliable, with advanced electrics using dash-mounted printed circuit boards rather than wires, and a special radiator fan and cowling, so that, as their advertising declared, 'No Lanchester should overheat in traffic in any city in the British Empire.' India was a perfect market for Lanchester, and the Maharaja of Nawangar, Sir Ranjit Sinhji Vibhaji Jadeja, was the perfect customer. Between 1905 and 1927, he owned about 20 Lanchester models, including a fleet of two Convertible Tourers, one Limousine and one Landaulet - all ordered at the same time in 1927.
