2018 Shelby Series 2

The Shelby Series 1 was built from 1998 through 2005 with 249 examples being produced. They were designed by Carroll Shelby and produced by Shelby American. Power was from an Oldsmobile 4.0-liter L47 Aurora V8 DOHC engine offering 320 horsepower and had a top speed of 170 mph. The Shelby Series 1 is the only car ever designed and engineered by Carroll Shelby from the ground-up.

The Shelby Series 2 is a modernized version of the Series 1, and built through an agreement between Shelby American and Bob Wingard Motorsports. Mr. Wingard owned a Series 1 and while at Shelby American, he noticed parts from the cancelled Series 1 project. He purchased the remaining 77 frames and used them to create his own car, called the FII Roadster. The new Series 2 cars are based on those original Series 1 frames. Several engine options have been presented along with bodies being built in either carbon fiber or titanium - per customers' requests. The carbon fiber car will have a price tag of nearly $350,000 while the aluminum-bodied car will start at nearly $850,000.
