In 1963, Ferruccio Lamborghini, a wealthy Italian who made his fortune selling tractors, built a factory just 25 miles from Ferrari's headquarters. He was determined to build the best V-12 sports car in Italy and provide customers with prompt and courteous service. Lamborghini was a businessman who built road going sports cars. Ferrari built cars to go racing; road going sports cars were merely an offshoot of his primary purpose. More than 50 years later, both companies thrive.
