1948 Ford Gasser

Gasser Passer

The Hurst Gasser Passer started life as a 1948 Prefect manufactured in England. It became one fo the first AA/GS race cars campaigned by Ohio George Montgomery in 1965.

With backing by George Hurst of Hurst shifter fame, this four-door race car took advantage of National Hot Rod Association rules that favored its 94-inch wheelbase. Utilizing a small block supercharged Chevrolet engine, the Prefect campaigned in AA/GS for a short time.

Ohio George Montgomery shifted the 1948 over to BB/A for the 1966 NHRA Springnationals in Bristol, Tennessee where it was victorious. Prior to building his next race car, Ohio George sold it to Joe Hrudka of Mister Gasket fame, where it became the 'Gold Getter.'

This car languished for many years with various owners, until rescued by the current owner in 2012. It is being returned to its original as-raced glory.

Gasser Passer

The Kroona & Sandberg Anglia started life as a stock vehicle in Winnepeg, Canada. It was immediately turned into a race car destined for the AA/G Supercharged wars. Sporting a 2x3 chassis fashioned by the team, Jack Wheeler built the 354 Hemi engine. After 6 years of campaigning the Anlia, it was sold in 1974 in order to purchase the Kroona & Sandberg Opel. The owners always wondered what happed to their beloved Anglia, and almost 40 years later it was found in Iowa. Making the trip to the owner's home, the car was confirmed to be their original AA/GS Anglia. After striking a deal, it headed home to undergo a complete restoration.

After restoration, it debuted in 2006 at the GSTA Car Show. It stands today as a testament to the dedication of a pair of racers who never forgot their old race cars.
