1962 Goggomobil TS300

Goggomobil was the brand attached to a series of microcars produced by Hans Glas GmbH in the Bavarian town of Dingolfing starting in 1955. BMW purchased the company in 1966 and phased out both the Goggomobil and Glas marques by 1969.

This rare 1962 TS-300 Coupe is powered by a 300-cc 14.8 horsepower two-stroke motor that will push the car to 59 mph. The car is just 9 feet, 6 inches long, and weighs in at 915 pounds. It is believed there are fewer than 100 Goggomobils in North America, with fewer still in running condition. Though probably brighter in colour than it was originally painted, it is important it wears such an attention-grabbing colour, since, if you are going to drive something this small, people should see you coming.

Hans Glas GmbH built microcars between 1955 and 1969 in the Bavarian town of Dingolfing. Three models were built on the Goggomobil platform including the Goggomobil T sedan, the Goggomobil TL van, and the Goggomobil TS coupe. Power was from an air-cooled, two-stroke, two-cylinder unit originally having a displacement size of 250 cc. This would later rise to 300cc and finally 400cc. Getrag built the electric pre-selective transmission and manual clutch. The suspension was an independent setup comprised of coil springs with swing axles.

The TS 300 had a Glas 2-stroke engine displacing 298cc and had a compression ratio of 6.0:1. It produced 15 horsepower and 17.4 lb-ft of torque. It had a top speed of nearly 60 mph and could go from zero-to-fifty mph in around 30 seconds.
