1959 Datsun PLG221

The Datsun Type 220 pickup truck was introduced in November of 1957 and remained in production until 1961. It was the successor to the 120 Series and its chassis was based on the 210 sedan series. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, four models were produced, including the 220 (1957-1958), 221 (1959-1960), 222 (1960), and 223 (1961). The 221 came equipped with either a 1000 or 1200 engine. There are side-mounted badges which display 'DATSUN 1000.'

This quarter-ton pickup is one of ten models that were first sold in the United States to test the American market. One a few of these 1959 examples have survived and this one is believed to be the only restored example in existence.
