1953 Grantham Stardust

The Grantham Startdust was a fiberglass-bodied roadster built during the early 1950s by Bill Grantham, and approximately 12 examples were constructed. While most other fiberglass-bodied cars of this era resided on platforms with wheelbase sizes of less than 100 inches, the Grantham Startdust had a 110-inch wheelbase.

The Stardust played a starring role in at least two movies, including 'Johnny Dark' (with Tony Curtis and Piper Laurie) and 'Menace From Outer Space.' It was also featured in the television shows 'Rocky Jones Space Ranger' and 'Mr. North.' The latter starred Richard Denning, who drove the Stardust as 'Mr. North's' personal car. The Grantham Startdust was featured in the September 1953 issue of Motor Trend magazine in an article entitled, 'Hollywood Traffic Stopper.'

The Grantham Startdust could be purchased as a body kit for approximately $950 or as a complete car ($3750). Production lasted about two years.
