1999 Mercury Mystique

The 1999 Mercury Mystique four-door sedan was available in GS and LS trim levels, with power supplied by either a four- or six-cylinder engine. The front suspension was upgraded and new, and lighter weight seats were used that offered more rear passenger legroom. Other improvements included de-powered second-generation airbags, redesigned brake calipers, and throttle-type traction control. The 2.0-liter dual overhead cam, Zetec, 16-valve four-cylinder engine was backed by a five-speed manual transmission. Standard equipment included a soft-touch dashboard with knee bolsters and four positive shutoff registers, body-color exterior mirrors, an AM/FM stereo, and individual manual two-way adjustable front bucket seats with reclining seat back and cloth trim and a driver's side armrest attached to the seat. The P185/70R14S black sidewall radial tries wrapped 14-inch wheel covers with full bolt-on appearance.

The six-cylinder engine powering the LS model was a Modular, double overhead cam unit, with an aluminum block and head, sequential fuel injection, and a 155 cubic-inch displacement. It offered 170 horsepower at 6,250 RPM and 165 lb-feet of torque at 4,250 RPM.
