1911 Stevens Duryea Tourer AA

Tourer

In 1901, the Stevens-Duryea company produced its first car - a two-cylinder 5-horsepower runabout. By 1910, they had built many different models. That year, they introduced the Model AA Tourer with a six-cylinder 35-horsepower powerplant. Company advertising from the period boasted 'the maximum of power efficiency with the minimum of friction and strain.'

This car was found in a tobacco barn in North Carolina in 1954. It was in what might be described as 'typical barn condition.' Morris Kunkle, who owned the car for 50 years, restored it in 1955. A partial restoration was completed in 2000.

The car has participated in numerous tours, including 36 Glidden Tours, 7 Red Rock Tours, and every AACA Reliability Tour since its inception in 1970, as well as many 'Brass Car' tours. In the summer of 2004, the vehicle was driven over 2,000 miles and performed flawlessly.
