1953 Kurtis Meteor SR-100

1953 Kurtis Meteor SR-100 1953 Kurtis Meteor SR-100 1953 Kurtis Meteor SR-100 This Kurtis-Meteor is a 1953 Kurtis KK 500 chassis (#KK2) with standard torsion bar suspension front and rear, mated to a Dick Jones Meteor SR-100 fiberglass body.

Kurtis resold the chassis to the builder after the original buyer was sent to Korea. The builder found an ad for Dick Jones' fiberglass bodies when at a conference. He visited Dick and purchased the last Meteor body made. The builder installed the Corvette motor, transmission, windshield, and steering column from his damaged Corvette. He finished the project by installing Mercedes-Benz 300 SL bucket seats.

The current owner purchased the car from the builder in 2006 and commissioned a full restoration by KTR Motorsports where Chris Cassidy rebuilt the mechanicals and assembled the Kurtis. Rich Spaulding repaired the original fiberglass and painted the vehicle.
