1951 Triumph Mayflower

1951 Triumph Mayflower 1951 Triumph Mayflower 1951 Triumph Mayflower Sold for $13,200 at 2010 RM Auctions - Sports & Classics of Monterey.
The two-door Triumph Mayflower made its debut late in 1949. It had a three-speed column shift transmission that was meant to appeal to American customers. The 1,247cc L-head four-cylinder overhead valve engine offered 90 horsepower and was an economical powerplant.

Production of the Mayflower would continue only for a short time, ending just three years later. It is estimated that around 200 of the 34,000 examples built were sold in its intended American market.

This Mayflower example is powered by a 1622cc overhead-valve engine from an MGA. There is a four-speed gearbox with a floor shifter, also from an MG, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. It has Yankee accessory directional signals and modern radio.

In 2010, this car was offered for sale at the Sports & Classics of Monterey offered by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $15,000 - $20,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $13,200, inclusive of the buyer's premium.
