2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE

NEW SEAT IBIZA ECOMOTIVE : The lowest emissions in its class

2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE
• CO2 emissions of only 89 g/km
• Fuel consumption of 3.4 l/100 km
• 75 hp 1.2 TDI CR engine with auto stop/start and brake energy regeneration

SEAT's impressive range of exceptionally environmentally responsible vehicles is growing again, this time with the debut of the third generation Ibiza ECOMOTIVE. Now, with its record-breaking 89 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption of only 3.4 l/100 km, is even more eco-friendly.

SEAT's new model is powered by a new 75 hp 1.2 TDI CR engine with diesel particulate filter (DPF), and is fitted with the firm's efficient auto stop/start function and brake energy regeneration. Together, these combine to produce one of the cleanest cars on the market. It is the only model at this power level to feature air conditioning, a five-door body and CO2 emissions of only 89 g/km .

Stop/start function and brake energy regeneration

2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVEThe third-generation Ibiza ECOMOTIVE includes the handy auto start/stop function, which helps saving a considerable amount of fuel without any input from the driver.

Whenever the car stops at a red light the driver slips the gear lever into neutral and lifts his foot off the clutch, which is when the stop/start system kicks in and automatically switches off the engine. When the driver depresses the clutch again, the engine starts up automatically. Once in gear, the car can then be driven off as usual.

SEAT's new model is also equipped with brake energy regeneration, which recovers energy from the alternator when the driver lifts off the accelerator or steps on the brake. Engine work is reduced, so fuel consumption decreases.
The new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is also fitted with a gear shift indicator, which displays the gear most suited to the prevailing driving conditions.

Highly efficient engine

2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE
The new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is equipped with SEAT's 75 hp 1.2 TDI CR engine, a highly efficient new three-cylinder power unit that delivers outstanding performance with low noise levels, fuel consumption and emissions. This common-rail variant replaces the previous pump-injection 80 hp 1.4 TDI unit.
Common-rail technology has a reputation for flexibility and provides several solutions for adapting injection pressure and rate across the engine's operating spectrum. This flexibility delivers considerably lower fuel consumption and emissions, combined with increased engine performance.

The unparalleled figures for the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE speak for themselves. With a maximum engine torque of 180 Nm available from just 1,500 rpm, the Spanish brand's new model asserts its class leadership with CO2 emissions of only 89 g/km (9 g/km less than the previous ECOMOTIVE version) and a combined fuel consumption of 3.4 l/100 km (0.3 l/km less).

Furthermore, the Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is equipped with a DPF that traps diesel engine soot particles. This system uses the engine's control unit to monitor the filter and activate regeneration to burn off accumulated soot particles, meaning that the DPF requires no maintenance.

Sleek streamlining

2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE
The new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE retains the improved aerodynamics of the previous version, adding to its ecological credentials.

This package includes a closed radiator grille and a lower grille that redirects airflow out of the engine bay, a 40 mm front spoiler, a rear hatch spoiler and deflectors over the rear wheel arches.

With these modifications, the new SEAT Ibiza ECOMOTIVE boasts a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.30.

Finally, the 15 inch wheels feature specially designed wheel trims that generate less wind resistance. All these measures contribute toward greater environmental sustainability, as does the increased tyre pressure of 2.9 bar on the front and 2.7 bar on the rear.

Lower emissions, better performance

2011 Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE
Únderlining that fact that economy and performance can go hand in hand, the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE delivers even better performance than the standard Ibiza 1.2 TDI. The modifications applied in order to reduce fuel consumption and emissions have brought an added advantage. With better aerodynamics, lower weight and less friction, top speed and 0 to 1,000 meter acceleration are both improved.

Top speed on the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE SC and 5-door is 173 km/h; it reaches 100 km/h in 13.9 seconds and covers the standing kilometre in 35.6 seconds. This compares with 168 km/h, 13.9 seconds and 35.7 seconds for the non-ECOMOTIVE model. The ECOMOTIVE ST also reaches a top speed of 173 km/h (compared to 168 km/h), and accelerates from 0 to 1,000 m in 36.1 seconds, equalling the figure for the standard model.

Fully equipped

The new SEAT Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is available in three body styles – SC, 5-door and the ST estate car – and in the full range of Ibiza colours. Aside from the rear spoiler, which distinguishes the Ibiza SC and 5-door models from the Reference version, it is also equipped with body-colour door mirrors and handles, twin headlights and exclusive upholstery.
The new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE features generous standard equipment, similar to that found in the Reference trim, including ABS, ESP, TCS + EBA, Hill Hold Assist, low tyre pressure warning, driver + passenger airbags, audio MP3 equipment + 6 speakers, air conditioning, electro-hydraulic power steering, 15 inch steel wheels with 185/60 tyres and hubcaps, anti-theft radio aerial, steering column controls, remote control central locking, front fasten seatbelt reminder, rear seat Isofix anchor points + Top Tether preparation, height-adjustable driver and passenger seats and three rear height-adjustable headrests.

Value is a key ingredient of the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE, too. Not only do customers save on registration tax in Spain and benefit from tax incentives in other countries – this car is also extremely economical and eco-friendly.

The list of optional equipment on the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE includes the following:
