1956 Mercedes-Benz 300C Series

The Mercedes-Benz 300C was produced from September of 1955 to June of 1957 and was related to the W186 300 series motorcar that had been first introduced in 1951 at the Paris Exhibition Auto Show. The 300C came equipped with a higher compression engine, dual downdraft carburetors, different rear axle gearing, and a standard four-speed gearbox. The 2,996cc overhead camshaft six-cylinder engine produced 125 horsepower.

The Mercedes 300C was exclusive, technologically advanced, and had a hefty price tag. During its brief production lifespan, a total of 1,432 examples were built with 885 of those being produced in 1956. These well-equipped vehicles could be fitted with even more optional accessories including a full-length sunroof, headrests, special coating, and a Becker Mexico radio with an automatic antenna. An automatic transmission was also available and fitted to only a small number of vehicles.
