The Cruzes Top The Rankings at Hungaroring's WTCC Inauguration

Menu, Huff and Muller post the three fastest times in testing session2011 Chevrolet Cruze WTCC
BÚDAPEST, 3rd June 2011 – The RML Chevrolet Cruzes did not need much time to get familiarised with the Hungaroring, as they topped the rankings in today's testing session, with Alain Menu posting the best lap time ahead of team mates Rob Huff and Yvan Muller. The technically challenging circuit on the outskirts of Budapest is hosting a WTCC event for the first time. With almost all the teams and drivers discovering the track for the first time, today's testing was a needed and useful work session. Still, the Cruzes demonstrated once again their capability to adapt quickly to any track and any condition, as well as their current level of competitiveness. On a cloudy, hot and windy afternoon, Alain Menu, one of the few
having already raced on the Hungaroring, although only once and years ago, took the advantage.

QÚOTES
Alain Menu (1st): 'Nothing special to report; it was a good testing session and we have now more data to start working on. We have some understeer, but I guess the track will evolve in the next hours, with other formulae leaving some rubber on the tarmac. What I can
anticipate is that we will have to save the front tyres. There are a number of zones where you brake and turn at the same time and this will take a toll on the front tyres for sure.'

Rob Huff (2nd): 'A positive session, which allowed me to learn the circuit. I did explore the track on a bike yesterday, so today I had a pretty good idea and could focus on finding the boundaries of the track and getting acquainted with corner entry speeds, braking zones and kerbs. We did not have time enough to change anything in the set-up, so will work on this tomorrow morning.'

Yvan Muller (3rd): 'It was a session of discovery of the new track and I must say it's not an easy track and it is one that poses some challenges in terms of set-up, as you have very different grip conditions depending on the section and its surface. But it is precisely because it is not easy that the track is interesting!'
