1990 Nissan 240SX

The Nissan 240SX was available as either a 2-door Coupe or 2-door Hatchback Coupe. Beginning in 1989, it served as a replacement for the 200SX. The name of the 240SX was sourced from its engines size - 2.4 liter overhead-cam four. The rear-wheel drive vehicle rested on a 97.4-inch wheelbase and had disc brakes in both the front and the rear. The engine was mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox or an optional four-speed automatic. The 12-valve engine delivered 140 horsepower and 152 foot-lbs of torque. Pricing began at $12,000 for the XE Coupe and an additional $200 for the SE Hatchback version.

The XE could be purchased with the optional head-up instrument display, which projected the speedometer onto the lower left corner of the windshield.

There were very few changes for 1990. Perhaps the biggest change was the addition of a standard power antenna. The sport package was now only available on the SE in 1989 but for 1990, it was available to both models. The sports package added a sport suspension, alloy wheels, spoilers in both the front and rear, and cruise control. The Sport Package added an additional $800 to the base price.

Anti-lock braking was an expensive option for the SE model, adding an additional $1400 to the sticker price. The optional air conditioning system added $800, and power glass sunroof (on the XE) was also listed $800. On the SE version, a removable glass sunroof option added $450.
