1974 Dodge Charger

For 1974, the Dodge Charger received slight styling changes to the taillights and to the grille. The standard engine remained the 225 cubic inch Slant Six offering 105 horsepower. A 318 cubic-inch overhead valve V8 was also available, delivering an additional 45 horsepower. Standard features included color-keyed carpeting, inside day and night mirror, cigarette lighter, dual horns, roof drip rail, and two-speed windshield wipers.

Those buyers who selected the Rallye Option package received front and rear sway bars, F70-14 raised white letter black sidewall tires, Rallye instrument cluster, body tape stripes, hood pins, power bulge hood, and special exterior ornamentation.

The top trim level on the Charger series was SE package. The SE models had landau vinyl top with filled quarter windows and six opera windows, concealed headlights, inside hood release, and front stone shield molding. Other features included deluxe wheel covers, front bench seat with folding center armrests, electric clock, and Rallye instrument cluster.

The Charger was available as a two-door coupe with seating for six. Pricing began at $3,200. For 1974, Dodge produced around 30,957 examples of the Charger SE, and all were powered by V8 engines. Just 661 Chargers were powered by the optional 360 cubic-inch V8.
