1981 Arrows A3

The Arrows A3 Formula One racecar was raced during the 1980 and 1981 F1 seasons. The Arrows Grand Prix International team was founded in 1977 by Italian financiers Franco Ambrosio, Alan Rees, Dave Wass, Tony Southgate, and Jackie Oliver. The team was formed with Rees, Oliver, Southgate, and Waas (who left the Shadow team.) Shadow sued the Arrows team, claiming copyright infringement. The issue was with the Arrows FA/1; Shadow claimed it was a copy of the Shadow DN9. So the team built a new car called the A1. The work was completed in just 53 days.

The Arrows A3 began racing in 1980 and, during its racing career, had two 2nd place finishes, one 1st place finish, and 25 retirements. It made its racing debut at the 1980 Argentine GP and its last race was at the South African GP in 1982.
