1976 Surtees TS19

The Surtees TS19 raced in Formula 1 competition during the 1976 through 1978 seasons. The car was designed by John Surtees and Ken Sears and powered by a Ford Cosworth V8 engine mated to a Hewland FGA400 gearbox. It had an aluminum monocoque and rode on Goodyear tires.

The TS19 made its racing debut at the South African Grand Prix and finished in eleventh place. The car would score points for Surtees in 1976 and 1977 and even was used in the opening rounds of the 1978 season. The TS19 was replaced by the TS20, which initially showed promise, but was soon overshadowed by the introduction of ground effects.
