1974 March 743

The March 743 F3 racer was an evolution of the prior year's design, the 733. The 733 was also an evolution of the car it replaced, the 713/723. The 733 was short and had a narrow track suspension and an impressive aerodynamic design.

The March 743, just like the prior March F3 cars, was a popular customer car with 29 examples being produced. Driver Brian Henton was very successful in both British championships, with 17 victories. In Germany, Giorgio Francia was also a successful racer in his 743.

The open-wheel formula racing series, Formula Three, also known as F3 and Formula 3, was considered by many as an important step for prospective Formula One drivers. F3 was expensive but also an integral investment in a driver's future career. Success in F3 often led directly to more senior formulae such as F2 and GP2.
