1964 Jensen C-V8 MK II

History

The Jensen CV8 was produced from 1962 through 1966 and served as the successor to the 541 Series. The body material was constructed from fiberglass with the doors being metal. Mounted under the bonnet was a Chrysler V8 big-block engine that displaced 361 cubic inches. In 1964, a 383 cubic-inch unit that produced 330 horsepower was used. Most were given Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic gearboxes, but a few had manual transmissions.

There were just eight built with left-hand drive configuration. The rest were intended for the British marketplace and had right-hand drive.

The two-door four-seater car was very fast, having a top speed of around 136 mph. The quarter-mile was achieved in just 14.6 seconds. The styling was very different from most other cars on the road, and thus - was controversial. Probably the most unique design elements were its slanted front-end lights.

The MKII series was introduced in 1963 and featured Selectaride dampers in the rear. 1965 saw the introduction of the MKIII, which had both front headlights having the same size and a dual circuit braking system. There was also a lack of chrome around the headlight apertures.

Production ceased in October of 1966.
