1975 Aston Martin V8

With the acquisition of the Aston Martin Company by Company Developments in 1972, the V8-engined cars were given a new name - gone was the DBS V8 and replaced with the AM V8. The new Series 2 was easily distinguishable by its restyled front which now had two instead of four headlamps and re-called the appearance of the earlier DB six-cylinder cars. Standard equipment now included electronic ignition and air conditioning.

In 1973, Aston Martin introduced the Series 3 which used a quartet of Weber 42 DCNF carburetors instead of the previous Bosch mechanical fuel injection system. With the change, torque increased and necessitated a larger bonnet bulge. With the change to carburetors, fuel economy improved and even in automatic transmission form, the Weber-equipped car was as quick as the preceding manual version.
