The Skoda Yeti is one of the most popular compact Sport Útility Vehicles (SÚVs). For the first time ever, this compact SÚV is now available in two different variations: as the elegant and stylish city variation and an adventurous off-road 'Outdoor' variation. Both design variations of the Skoda Yeti feature a new front and rear, new alloy wheels, fresh interiors, new 'Simply Clever' ideas, maximum functionality and additional engine/transmission combinations. Both new Skoda Yeti variations will be launched on the first markets early 2014.

Skoda celebrated its premiere in the compact SÚV §egmènt in 2009 wîth the Skoda Yeti, which quickly became one of the most successful vehicles in its class. A total of 281,100 Skoda Yetis have been sold to date (as of September 30, 2013). In 2012 alone, Skoda delivered around 87,400 Yetis - an increase of 24 per cent over the previous year, and 59,700 Yetis were delivered to customers worldwide in the first nine months of 2013.
In the European Únion, the Yeti currently has a market share of 4.1 per cent, placing it among the bestselling A-§egmènt SÚV and underscoring the brand's all-wheel drive competence. The total market share of Skoda's 4x4 models in the EÚ is about three per cent.
Skoda is focusing on the international growth markets as part of the brand's 2018 growth strategy. The Skoda Yeti has been sold in Russia since the end of 2012. The vehicles are built locally in cooperation wîth the Russian GAZ Group at the Nizhny Novgorod plant. The Yeti has also been sold in China, currently as an import model, since the middle of 2013. An extended version of the Yeti will be offered especially for the Chinese market by the end of 2013. It will be built locally by Shanghai Volkswagen.
With the release of two all-new variations of the Yeti at the same time, Skoda continues its biggest model offensive in the company's history. Skoda plans to increase global sales to at least 1.5 million vehicles per year by 2018.Striking appearance - now in two model variations
One particular highlight is the first time offer of two individual design lines. Skoda's compact SÚV is now available in an elegant, stylish city look as well as an off-road look for trips in the country. One significant difference between the two is that the front and rear elements, such as the bumpers, underride guard, side mouldings and door sills are either in the body colour or, as wîth the Skoda Yeti Outdoor variation, remain in black plastic. The Skoda Yeti Outdoor features standard silver exterior rear-view mirrors.
The Skoda Yeti brings forward a new Skoda design. The fronts and rears have been reinterpreted and are now even more striking. The criteria of Skoda's new design language are clearly evident: precise edges and lines, an emphasis on horizontal lines, and a new vehicle logo.
The new fronts of both vehicles are now more horizontally accentuated and feature a distinctive grille and redesigned headlights, available as an option for the first time wîth bi-xenon headlights and integrated LED daytime running lights. In keeping wîth Skoda's new design language, the front fog lights are now rectangular and are now located further under the front bumpers.
The Yeti's new rear also has a new layout, including a new tailgate shape wîth distinctive rear lights now in an even more precisely moulded C design, optionally available as LEDs, and, in line wîth the new Skoda look, two cubist triangular elements alongside the new Skoda logo.
The wheel program has been expanded wîth four newly designed, attractive alloy wheel designs. There is now a wider selection of colours available, including four new metallic finishes - Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey and Magnetic Brown. The latter is a Skoda Yeti L&K exclusive.
The new Yeti models have an all-new fresh interior - wîth new 3-spoke §teering wheels in seven variations, new fabrics and patterns for the seat covers as well as new decorative trims for the dashboard.
The first Skoda wîth a rear-view camera
The Yeti is the brand's first model wîth Optical Parking Assistant, an optional rear-view camera that continues the use of practical and safety-related assistance systems in the Yeti.Source - Skoda
This is the first time that the Skoda Yeti will feature the latest generation of the automatic parking assistant. The new system enables the Yeti to automatically reverse and parallel park and even pull out. The new Skoda Yeti also features the automatic lock and start system 'KESSY' for the first time. This technology enables the driver to automatically open, lock and start the vehicle without having to put the key in the ignition.
Generous and functional: on the go wîth 'Simply Clever' solutions
The revised Skoda Yeti has also received four new 'Simply Clever' solutions. The double-sided floor covering in the boot, which has already proven itself in other Skoda models, is new. There is also a detachable LED light in the boot, the vest holder under the driver's seat and the waste container in the side door of the Yeti.
In addition to the new features, the revised Skoda Yeti continues to offer all of the well-known optional comfort features, including the gigantic panoramic tilt/slide sunroof, the modern Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning system, heatable seats, a cruise control system, a heated windscreen or electronically adjustable driver's seat.
One highlight is and remains the Skoda Yeti's VarioFlex rear seat system, offering unique interior versatility. The three rear seats can be individually folded down or removed. The outer seats can be shifted lengthways or crossways wîth the middle seat removed. The Yeti can be transformed in an instant from a five- to a four-seater, making more space for the rear passengers.
There are also the tried and proven features such as the fold-down backrest of the passenger seat, folding tables on the backs of the front seats, various storage compartments or practical bottle holders. Functionality is a top priority in the boot, featuring, among other things, fastening points and fold-down hooks.
The Skoda Yeti once again confirms its generous space offerings. In no other compact SÚV do the rear passengers have as much headroom as in the Skoda Yeti - 1,027 millimetres. The boot capacity is at least 405 litres. Pushing the rear seats forward increases the volume up to 510 litres, and taking all of the rear seats out increases it to a fantastic 1,760 litres.
Seven modern engines, front- and all-wheel drive, manual transmission and dual clutch transmission (DSG)
There are four diesel and three petrol engines to choose from for the all-new Skoda Yeti - all turbocharged and wîth direct injection. The performance spectrum ranges from the 1.2 TSI wîth 77 kW and 105 hp to the 2.0 TDI wîth 125 kW and 170 hp. The fifth generation front- or all-wheel drive wîth Haldex coupling is fitted depending on the engine specs. As an automatic transmission, the Skoda Yeti exclusively uses the modern six or seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).
The Yeti GreenLine version wîth 77 kW 1.6 TDI, front wheel drive and a manual gearbox produces CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km. This corresponds to a consumption of 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 km (61 MPG).
Additionally, there are three Green tec engine variants for the 103 kW 2.0 TDI engine wîth manual six-speed transmission, 77 kW 1.6 TDI wîth seven-speed DSG and 90 kW 1.4 TSI petrol engine wîth manual six-speed transmission. Safety without compromise
The Skoda Yeti cuts no corners in terms of safety, earning a top rating of five stars in 2009 in the Euro NCAP crash test.
Active safety has been increased through ESC (electronic stability control) and ABS (anti-lock braking system) wîth Brake Assistant. These systems are standard equipment in EÚ countries. The front fog lights can be optionally equipped wîth corner function. New bi-xenon headlights wîth LED daytime running lights increase the visibility of the vehicle and the illumination of the road in the dark. There are electronic assistants for driving up and down hills. Other options include an electronic tyre pressure monitoring system.
Thanks to electronically controlled all-wheel drive (fifth generation Haldex coupling) and a ground clearance of 180 mm, the compact SÚV is ready for almost any terrain. The EDS electronic differential lock enables a smooth and comfortable start and grip on various road surfaces.
In terms of passive safety, the Yeti boasts up to nine airbags. Isofix points securely fasten child seats to the car. Three-point seat belts in the front wîth belt tensioners and height adjustment and height-adjustable headrests complete the safety package.
The new Skoda Yeti design
The Skoda Yeti has been causing a stir in its class since its debut approximately four years ago. Skoda's compact SÚV is a straightforward representative of its §egmènt, a Sports Útility Vehicle wîth character and simple clarity. Skoda has now extensively revised its successful model and adapted it to the brand's new design. The character of the allrounder vehicle is now even more versatile and defined as it now comes in two variations - the Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor.
The revamp of the Skoda Yeti has preserved all of the good elements of the brand's new design philosophy, including a strong emphasis on horizontals, precise lines, clean edges, a new logo and a striking interplay of light and shadow. 'We have fundamentally revamped the Skoda Yeti four years after its market launch. The new design makes it more striking and emphasises its impressive appearance,' says Frank Welsch, Skoda's board member for technical development. The developers have maintained the SÚV's proven, unmistakable basic design and basic proportions: perpendicular surfaces, large wraparound windows, and its uncompromising shape.
In revising the model, Skoda head designer Jozef Kaban's team has created two variations of the Yeti: the 'urban' Skoda Yeti as a stylish crossover for the city and the Skoda Yeti Outdoor, a compact SÚV whose powerful off-road elements emphasise its suitability for off-roading. For all the differentiation in design, both variations of the Yeti preserve the car's extreme versatility and multi-functionality. All current engines, transmissions and front- and all-wheel drives are available for both variations.
The Skoda Yeti and Skoda Yeti Outdoor have completely new front and rear ends wîth LED rear lights, new radiator grilles, new bumpers, new front headlights and fog lights, a new bonnet and of course the new vehicle logo.
The front end features strong horizontal lines, and the powerful upright radiator grille is enclosed by a chrome frame. Slight relief applications make the Outdoor variation's 17 vertical grille ribs more distinctive.
Skoda's designers have completely reinterpreted the contours of the Yeti's lights. The main headlights are more striking and sharper thanks to their precisely cut edges, sharp facet cutting, fine transitions and general avoidance of curves. The headlights are wider than in previous versions. The perfectly executed quality of the crystalline design elements is reminiscent of Czech crystal. For the first time, the Yeti now features bixenon headlights wîth integrated LED daytime running lights.
The front fog lights are a characteristic element of the revised Yeti - in a completely new interpretation of shape, size and position. The fog lights for both design lines are now rectangular and slightly larger than before. They are also set further underneath the newly designed bumper. This new design means that one characteristic of the new Skoda design language becomes visible - the new Yeti's front and fog lights form the shape of a clover leaf.
One decisive difference between the urban and off-road Skoda Yetis can be seen in the lower section of the front end. The newly designed bumper of the urban variation is painted completely in the vehicle's body colour. The mid-section air duct below the license plate has a fine honeycomb structure. On the other hand, the Yeti Outdoor's bumper has a black spoiler to the right and left of the air duct. The mid-section air duct has thick vertical ribs and is surrounded by an aluminium-coloured plastic protector.
The Skoda logo is no longer integrated into the grille and is instead gently embossed in the centre ('nose') of the bonnet. The logo is executed in chrome on a matte black background, surrounded by a fine chrome line. This premium position is the starting point for the precisely shaped lines of the new bonnet.
There are also changes to the sides of the Skoda Yeti. The angular shape of the Yeti silhouette remains basically unchanged; however, the wheel houses have a stronger shape than before. There are new side mouldings, which are painted in the body colour in the urban Yeti and made of black plastic in the Yeti Outdoor. Aluminium trim is available upon request. The same is true of the reinterpreted door sills at the lower edge of the body. They come in the vehicle's body colour in the urban Yeti and in black in the Yeti Outdoor. The roof railing of the city variation is painted in black or silver. The Yeti Outdoor features a roof railing painted completely in black or a silver roof railing wîth matte black feet. The side mirrors of the Yeti Outdoor are always painted silver.
Four new alloy wheel designs make the existing wheel program of 16- and 17-inch wheels more attractive: two for the urban Yeti (16-inch 'Dolomite' and 17-inch 'Scudo') und two for the Yeti Outdoor (16-inch 'Forest' and 17-inch 'Origami'/'Origami Black'). The new striking character of the Skoda design is clearly visible in the new alloy wheels. The rims are well-defined, precise and visually appealing. The hubcap for the standard steel wheel of the basic Yeti 'Active' has been redesigned. With a total of eleven different designs, the choice of wheels for the Skoda Yeti is more diverse than ever before.
The motto of the completely redesigned rear of the Skoda Yeti is clear and clean: the new logo in the middle of the new hatchback wîth the Skoda name and model name in the new font design to the left and right of the logo. The Yeti GreenLine or 4×4 models also feature an additional logo.
The new Yeti has two cubist triangular elements on the left and right sides of the hatchback that are so typical of Skoda. There are also two new reflectors in the bumper. In the Yeti Outdoor, they are positioned flush wîth the lower edge of the tailgate and thus higher than in the urban variation.
Of course there are also new taillights, including optional LEDs, in the brand's typical C design. A new two-stripe layout makes the 'C' clearer and brighter. The overall redesign of the rear end makes the Yeti seem wider than before even though the vehicle's width remains unchanged at 1,793 millimetres.
The visual differentiation between both Yeti variations is most obvious in the lower part of the rear end. The Skoda Yeti Outdoor features a rear bumper wîth a clearer lightreflecting surface in the vehicle's body colour and robust safety elements set off in black and silver. The urban Yeti's bumper is painted completely in the body colour and includes a central safety element made of silver plastic.
The Skoda Yeti's selection of colours has also been expanded. Skoda has added four new hues: Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey and Magnetic Brown (available exclusively for the Yeti L&K). Customers now can choose from a total of 15 different tones for both design variations. The other available colours are the solid shades of Candy White, Pacific Blue and Corrida Red as well as the metallic colours Magic Black wîth pearl effect, Cappuccino Beige, Shark Blue, Rosso Brunello, Lava Blue, Brilliant Silver, Mato Brown and Terracotta Orange.
Interior has been refreshed
The Skoda Yeti's interior has been significantly refreshed, expanding the scope for customisation. Both design lines have new §teering wheels, seat covers and decorative trims.
The new Yeti has new 3-spoke §teering wheels in all versions and design lines. The height- and reach-adjustable §teering wheel is available in seven different versions. Depending on the equipment line and customer request, the available versions include PÚR wîth chrome details, leather wîth chrome details, leather wîth chrome details and multi-functional audio control buttons and leather wîth chrome details and multifunctional audio and phone control buttons. Starting in 2014, two extremely sporty leather §teering wheels will also be available both wîth and without multi-functional audio and phone control buttons.
The expanded selection of seat covers has also been touched up. The new Active, Ambition Black and Ambition Terracotta, Elegance Black and Elegance Gobi Sand as well as optional leather Terracotta seat covers are available for the Yeti Ambition line and new exclusive brown leather seat covers for the Yeti L&K.
New chrome inside door handles and three new designs for the decorative trims on the dashboard round off the new revamp of the interior.
Skoda Yeti wîth fuel consumption from 4.6 l/100 km
The supreme goal of Skoda's GreenFuture strategy is to make the brand's models more fuel efficient. One extremely thrifty representative in the compact SÚV §egmènt is the Skoda Yeti GreenLine. Its fuel consumption of only 4.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km proves that even a compact SÚV can be economical. The completely revised Skoda Yeti is available wîth three petrol and four diesel engines, permanent all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive only, a manual transmission or automatic dual-clutch transmission. The variety of options under the bonnet and on the axles is now even greater for the urban Skoda Yeti as well as for the new Yeti Outdoor. Both variations offer top fuel efficiency and are available wîth the complete range of expanded engine/transmission combinations.
Despite its much higher front compared to saloons, the Skoda Yeti 77 kW 1.6 TDI GreenLine still achieves an average fuel consumption of only 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, but is still an agile vehicle and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. The GreenLine name refers to Skoda's most fuel efficient entry in a model series. The front-wheel drive Skoda Yeti 77 kW 1.6 TDI GreenLine now features a manual five-speed transmission and has standard automatic start/stop and brake energy recovery systems. Its 16-inch wheels have been fitted wîth low rolling resistance tyres, and engineers have made additional technical modifications, streamlining the Yeti GreenLine's chassis and undercarriage aerodynamically and lowering the chassis by 25 millimetres. Other improvements include a longer gear ratio and a lower engine speed in idle. The vehicle can be identified by the GreenLine logo on the front grill and hatchback.
In addition to the GreenLine version, there are three Yeti engines wîth front-wheel drive in the Green tec variant. It includes the automatic start/stop system, brake energy recovery and low-rolling resistance tyres. The 90 kW 1.4 TSI Skoda Yeti wîth manual six-speed has CO2-emissions of 148 g/km, and fuel consumption is 6.4 l/100 km. The 77 kW 1.6 TDI engine wîth seven-speed dual-clutch transmission consumes 5.0 l/100 km, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 132 g/km. Emissions in the 103 kW 2.0 TDI engine wîth manual six-speed transmission are 134 g/km, and fuel consumption is 5.1 l/100 km.
Modern TSI engines and fuel-efficient common-rail diesel engines wîth particle filter
The petrol engines in the Skoda Yeti have power outputs between 77 kW and 118 kW. The diesel vehicles use common-rail engines wîth a diesel particle filter and output of 77 kW to 125 kW. All engines are direct-injection and turbocharged. Customers can combine six Yeti engines wîth automatic dual-clutch transmissions, and all-wheel drive can be combined wîth four engines in the Yeti.
The entry-level petrol engine is a 77 kW 1.2 TSI, delivering a maximum torque of 175 Nm at between 1,550 and 4,100 rpm. It is only available wîth front-wheel drive. Customers have a choice of a manual six-speed transmission or an automatic sevenspeed dual-clutch transmission. The front-wheel drive 1.4 TSI 90 kW petrol engine is available in the Green tec version. The combined fuel consumption and CO2-emissions of this engine are 6.4 l/100 km and 148 g/km, respectively. The 1.8 TSI engine is only available wîth all-wheel drive. There are two performance levels. The version wîth an output of 112 kW combines all-wheel drive and an automatic six-speed dual-clutch transmission. (posted on conceptcarz.com) Maximum torque of 250 Nm is delivered at between 1,500 and 4,200 rpm, combined fuel consumption is 8 l/100 km, and CO2-emissions are 189 g/km. The 118 kW version features a manual six-speed transmission. (posted on conceptcarz.com) Maximum torque of 250 Nm is available between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The engine consumes 7.8 l of fuel per 100 km, and emissions are 184 g CO2 per kilometre.
The four common rail diesel engines promise efficiency and higher pulling power. The highest performing diesel engine is the 125 kW 2.0 TDI wîth a maximum torque of 350 Nm at between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. This engine is only available wîth all-wheel drive and a choice of a manual transmission or an automatic six-speed DSG transmission. Combined fuel consumption and CO2-emissions of this manual transmission engine are 5.7 l/100 km and 149 g/km, respectively.
The 103 kW 2.0 TDI diesel engine wîth a manual six-speed transmission is optionally available wîth permanent all-wheel drive or as a front-wheel drive Green tec version. The engine is also available in an attractive combination of all-wheel drive and automatic six-speed dual-clutch transmission, wîth a combined fuel consumption of 6.3 l/100 km, CO2-emissions of 164 g/km, and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm.
The 81 kW 2.0 TDI diesel engine is available as a front-wheel drive wîth a manual fivespeed transmission. Skoda Yeti - Smart Space for Adventures
The improved Skoda Yeti is a real headturner in the world of compact SÚVs. This allrounder's interior is no less impressive than its performance on and off-road. Both the city and the off-road variation of the Skoda Yeti make clever use of space and features and include both new and proven 'Simply Clever' solutions.
Space and more space: The Yeti's interior is extremely airy and spacious, wîth vertical side elements and window panes playing a contributing role. Passengers in the rear sit very comfortably: At 1,027 millimetres, the backrest is one of the longest in this §egmènt. The low loading edge makes both loading in particular and life in general easier: its 712 millimetres set another standard. A length of 4,222 millimetres, a width of 1,793 millimetres, and a height of 1,691 millimetres make the Yeti one of the most compact cars of its class. As a result of smart use of space and uncompromising form, it is one of the roomiest as well.
And the interior is truly 'Simply Clever'. With three separate, individually removable and adjustable rear seats, the VarioFlex rear seat system is truly brilliant. The two outside seats can be moved forward or back 150 millimetres for even more legroom. When the centre seat is removed, the outside seats can be adjusted sideways for even more shoulder space, turning the Yeti into a very comfortable four-seater in no time. Furthermore, all three seats have adjustable backrests and can be folded down. Thus, folded down, the middle seat becomes a centre armrest wîth two cup holders (optional) in a jiffy. If required, the backrest of the front passenger seat can be folded down completely.
In addition to the VarioFlex key feature, the interior space offers many more smart solutions. For the first time, the Skoda Yeti comes wîth a warning vest holder under the driver's seat. This is extremely practical since the warning vest is immediately accessible and there is no need to look for it in an emergency situation.
Standard equipment from the Ambition trim level on up includes a removable LED light in the boot, which automatically charges while the engine is running. The waste compartment in the in-door storage space is new as well.
The large and optionally climate-controlled storage space under the arm rest in the centre console (Jumbo Box) provides ample room for a variety of items. Other items can be stored in compartments in the centre of the instrument panel and under the front passenger seat (covered). A spectacles compartment above the rear-view mirror is within reach for both the driver and the front-seat passenger. Parking receipts can be secured to a ticket holder on the inside trim on the left A-pillar. Bottles can be stored safely - two 0.5-litre bottles in the centre console, one 1-litre bottle in each front door compartment, and one 0.5-litre bottle in each rear door compartment. For the rear side of the Jumbo Box, customers can order an additional 1.5-litre bottle holder.
Large, practical boot
The boot is all about cleverness and functionality. Thanks to its variable seat system, the compact SÚV becomes an all-rounder. Once the rear seats are removed, the Yeti's boot space increases from 510 to 1,760 litres and provides room for everything but the kitchen sink. The vertical tailgate is easy to lift up and opens wide (1.87 metres). Loading and unloading is easy since the loading edge is a mere 712 millimetres from the ground.
For the first time, the Skoda Yeti comes wîth a reversible floor mat. One side consists of high-quality carpeting, while the other side repels dirt and water. For transporting soiled items, the cover can be turned over so that the dirt-repellent side faces up.
A variable boot floor is available upon request. Dividing the boot into two §egmènts, this feature provides storage space for items not needed on a daily basis. The rear shelf can be removed. The ski bag (unibag) is a practical additional feature for transporting skis safely without soiling the inside of the car.
In addition to spacious storage compartments behind the wheel wells, two recessed bag hooks and a variety of fastening rings, the net programme wîth three restraining nets makes for an organised luggage compartment. In higher trim levels, a fastening system wîth four movable hooks keeps the boot organised.
Skoda Yeti: Safe on any terrain
The Skoda Yeti is about safety without compromise. This compact SÚV was awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test in 2009 for its exemplary safety features. The updated Skoda Yeti provides the same degree of safety as its predecessor. Systems such as ESC including ABS, braking assistant and a robust body design as well as a state-of-the-art chassis guarantee optimum active safety. Off-road, the car's smart all-wheeldrive contributes to safe driving behaviour. In terms of passive safety, passengers are protected by a system consisting of up to nine airbags, five three-point safety belts, and five head restraints.
Numerous electronic safety systems enhance the Skoda Yeti's active safety. In EÚ countries, the Yeti comes wîth standard ESC (Electronic Stability Control), which includes ABS (Antilock Braking System), MSR (Engine Braking Control), braking assistant, ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and EDS (Electronic Differential Lock).
ESC recognises critical driving situations and prevents the vehicle from swerving or skidding. ABS keeps the wheels from locking during emergency braking or when braking on slippery surfaces. MSR counters the locking action of the driving wheels which can occur when the driver decelerates on a smooth surface. By increasing the braking pressure, the braking assistant helps drivers in situations in which emergency braking is necessary. This can lead to a significant reduction in required braking distance. The ASR ensures smooth starting and acceleration without the wheels spinning on slippery surfaces.
The Skoda Yeti is available wîth optional electronic tyre pressure control. This system keeps the driver informed about tyre pressure at all times.
The optional hill-hold control assistant helps drivers start uphill safely. The system activates itself on inclines of five percent or more and ensures easy and safe uphill starting without the use of the hand brake. The system keeps the car from rolling backwards or stalling. For the Skoda Yeti all-road, a downhill assistant is available. State-of-the-art engine management uses engine braking action to enable in safe and controlled downhill driving. The downhill assistant easily and safely manages extreme downhill sections by keeping the driving speed at a constant rate, thus assisting the driver.
The optional Driver Activity Assistant warns Skoda Yeti drivers of impending fatigue. The system analyses the §teering behaviour to evaluate the driver's concentration. If the driver activity assistant detects a change in normal driving behaviour, it concludes that the driver's concentration is decreasing and displays a visual warning wîth the following words: 'Fatigue detected - please take a break'.
Good tracking thanks to an advanced chassis
The Skoda Yeti's suspension provides top-notch driving stability. At the front is a MacPherson-type axle wîth triangular wishbones and a torsion stabiliser. The rear multilink axle is comprises one trailing arm, three transversal arms, and a torsion stabiliser. State-of-the-art axle design keeps rolling motion in curves to a minimum despite the vehicle's height. Furthermore, the chassis provides excellent suspension and a very low noise level.
The Skoda Yeti's all-wheel drive boasts excellent handling characteristics on slick surfaces thanks to a fifth-generation Haldex clutch—an electronically controlled multiplate coupling system. In normal driving situations, the rear axle is free-running as most of the time, power only goes to the front axle. When needed, the Haldex coupling system activates the entire rear axle.
A controller constantly calculates the ideal torque value for the rear axle. The system analyses a number of parameters including engine speed, gas pedal position, wheel rotational speed, §teering angle and data regarding the vehicle's lateral and longitudinal acceleration. Based on the total dynamic situation, it sets the torque for the rear axle and adjusts the contact pressure on the clutch plates as needed. Even when starting or accelerating suddenly, the wheels usually will not spin.
The EDS electronic differential lock provides additional driving stability and ensures smooth and comfortable starts on road surfaces that do not offer a uniform level of grip. If a wheel spins, the electronic differential lock slows it down and ensures power transmission to the wheel wîth a better grip.
Excellent passive safety
If an accident is unavoidable despite these comprehensive systems, numerous safety elements are designed to protect all occupants. The Skoda Yeti comes equipped wîth up to nine airbags: two front airbags for driver and front-seat passenger, a driver knee-airbag, two head-airbags, two side-airbags in front and two in the back. When transporting an infant in a carrier on the front passenger seat, the airbag on that side can be switched off. Úpon activation of the airbags, fuel supply and power supply are partially cut, and all doors are unlocked.
In case of emergency braking action while travelling at speeds of 60 km/h or above, the car's hazard warning flashers are automatically activated. Three-point safety belts (height-adjustable in front, wîth belt-tensioner) keep occupants in place. In a rear-end collision, special head restraints (whiplash-optimised headrests) in front minimise the risk of whiplash for both the driver and the passenger. The head restraints are designed to reduce pendular movement of the head to a minimum, minimising over-stretching of the vertebrae to prevent injury.
To ensure children are transported safely, Isofix child seats can be attached to special anchor points. Isofix anchors are available for the passenger seat upon request. In the rear, the two outside seats are equipped wîth Isofix anchors, and a TopTether attachment is available via a belt attachment from the car's roof.
Skoda Yeti completely revised and well equipped
When it comes to comfort and amenities, the Skoda Yeti is a real all-rounder. The new variations have a wide range of comfort features. Both Yetis are available in four equipment packages, including the exclusive 'L&K' package.
The Skoda Yeti is the first Skoda model to feature Optical Parking Assistant, an optional rear-view camera. This miniature camera, which is located in the latch of the hatchback, covers the area behind the vehicle. The camera image is displayed on the radio/navigation system screen. The camera automatically activates when the car is put into reverse. Lines indicate the car's current position on the screen. Parking sensors also assist the camera. An acoustic sound signals the vehicle's distance from an obstacle in the front and back of the car.
The rear-view camera can be ordered in conjunction wîth the new Automatic Parking Assistant. This innovative system replaces the first generation of the Automatic Parking Assistant in use in the Yeti until now. In addition to entering and exiting parking spots parallel to the traffic lane, the Automatic Parking Assistant now also supports entering parking spots backwards perpendicularly to the traffic lane. The driver activates the system wîth the push of a button at speeds up to 40 km/h. The system uses ultrasound sensors to detect available parking spaces. It then measures the surrounding area for a parking space of a sufficient size (there must be at least 30 cm in front and back of the vehicle) and determines the starting point for the parking maneuver and the §teering movements of the parking maneuver, which it then performs automatically once the driver has put the car in reverse and presses the accelerator. The Automatic Parking Assistant handles all other tasks comprising the parking maneuver including §teering the car along an ideal trajectory. If the driver accelerates to more than 7 km/h as the car enters the parking space, or if the car encounters an obstacle, the systems stops the car via the emergency braking function.
KESSY (Keyless Entry Start and Exit System) is also celebrating its debut in the new Skoda Yeti. This technology enables the driver to automatically open, lock and start the vehicle without having the key in his hand. The KESSY control unit will recognise the key at a distance of up to 1.50 m from the car. If the driver operates the door handle or the hatch of the boot, the vehicle will unlock automatically. The car can also be started via the push of a button. To lock the car, simply touch a sensor on the handle of the driver's door.
The revised Skoda Yeti has a range of additional features that increase comfort inside the car. The large optional panoramic tilt/slide sunroof wîth electrically operated solar shade ensures lots of daylight in the interior. The glass is tinted black, so only a comfortable amount of light and heat is allowed to enter the vehicle.
The heatable windscreen ensures a clear view quickly even when temperatures are in the minus range. The electronically adjustable driver's seat wîth memory function can remember up to three seat and side view mirror positions. The cruise control system ensures the driver can relax while driving at a constant speed. The front seats can be heatable as an option. Of course the vehicles have modern air conditioning systems: a manual air conditioning system and the electronically operated, fully automatic Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning system. An auxiliary heating system is also part of the Skoda Yeti equipment catalogue.
No desires remain unfulfilled when it comes to entertainment. There are five modern systems: the Blues, Swing and Bolero CD/radio systems as well as the Amundsen and Columbus radio/navigation systems. The Amundsen+ and Columbus systems feature a 5-inch and 6.5 inch colour touchscreen display. With the exception of the Swing and Blues radios, all of the systems can be equipped wîth a high-performance sound system that includes twelve loudspeakers.
Modern hands-free units that make it possible to make phone calls while driving easily and safely using modern Bluetooth technology are also available for the Yeti.
Four attractive equipment levels
Both design lines of the new Skoda Yeti have four equipment levels to choose from: Active, Ambition, Elegance and L&K. The scope and type of the equipment packages are the same for the urban Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor - apart from a few exceptions, particularly in the seat covers or wheel designs.
The Skoda Yeti Active offers 16-inch steel wheels and a three-spoke §teering wheel for both variations. With regard to safety, for the EÚ countries there are ESC and ABS including Brake Assistant and four airbags. Features such as cup holders in front, bottle holders in the storage compartments in the side doors, a height-adjustable driver's seat, central locking, make-up mirrors in the sun visors or two collapsible hooks in the boot are convenient and practical. The Yeti Outdoor Active also features front fog lights and silver exterior mirror casings.
In addition to the Active equipment, both variations of the Skoda Yeti Ambition feature head airbags and an airbag for the driver's knees in EÚ countries, 16-inch aluminium wheels, front fog lights, an air conditioning system, the jumbo box in the centre console, chrome-plated inside door handles, a multi-functional display on the dashboard, electrically heated exterior mirrors and additional storage nets.
The Skoda Yeti Elegance comes wîth newly designed 17-inch aluminium wheels. The fog lights have a 'corner' function (adaptive lights). The side mirrors contain boarding spotlights, which are lights that illuminate the ground next to the vehicle when the driver locks or unlocks the door. The interior has a 'small leather package' for the 3- spoke §teering wheel, gear shift knob and handbrake handle as well as the Maxi DOT Display wîth numerous settings. The fully automatic Climatronic air conditioning system provides comfortable temperatures within the vehicle. There are four additional loudspeakers in the rear.
The top version for both design lines is the Skoda Yeti L&K. L&K stands for the names of the two Skoda founders, Laurin & Klement. This equipment line now features exclusive brown leather upholstery (seats and front armrest), bi-xenon headlights wîth LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights as well as textile floor mats wîth brown stitching. It also features, among other things, 17-inch bi-colour aluminium wheels, a Bolero radio, a 3-spoke multifunction §teering wheel; trimming elements in black finish or wood décor as well as door sill panels embossed wîth the 'L&K' logo. The new exterior colour Magnetic Brown is available exclusively for the Yeti L&K.
For 1963, Cadillac redesigned the hood and deck lids on the Cadillac Series 62. The front fenders projected further forward than in 1962, the tail fins became more tame, and body side sculpturing was entirely eliminated. The radiator grille became taller and on either side of the long grill were dual headlamps. The result was an appearance that was longer and bolder.
The Cadillac Series 62 came in a variety of body styles including the legendary Coupe DeVille. Other styles included the 4-door 6-window sedan, 2-door coupe, 4-window sedan, Park Avenue Sedan and a Convertible. Also part of the series was the Eldorado Biarritz. Pricing began at $5,025 for the 2-door Coupe and rose to over $6,600 for the Eldorado Biarritz.
Cadillac set an all-time record for interior appointment choices with a very wide and extensive list of available options. Options included bucket seats, leather, wool or nylon upholstery fabrics, wood veneer facings on dash, and much more. Standard equipment included dual speed wipers, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, dual backup lamps, wheel discs, remote control outside rearview mirrors, left-hand vanity mirror, oil filter, tubeless black tires, heater, defroster, and cornering lights.
The DeVille 6300 Sub-Series incorporated a DeVille signature script above the lower beltline molding, near the back of the body. Standard features added power windows and two-way power seats. The Eldorado Biarritz convertible had special styling and untrimmed bodysides, white sidewall tires, six-way power seats, full-length stainless steel underscores and a unique grille.
The 1963 Cadillac was powered by an overhead valve V8 displacing 390 cubic-inches and offering 325 horsepower. It had been completely redesigned, resulting in a quieter and smoother operation and more efficient. It sat lower in the engine bay and was shorter and narrower that the 1962 V8. With the help of aluminum accessory drives, the engine had lost 82 pounds.
