1969 Plymouth Fury

For 1969, the Plymouth Fury came in five series, 17 models, and several body styles including a sedan, a 6- and 9-passenger station wagon, coupe, hardtop coupe, fastback coupe, and convertible. The Fury's had grown in length by 1.5-inches and were nearly two inches wider than their 1968 counterparts. The cars were clothed in all-new sheet metal and had horizontal twin headlamps, rectangular side markers, and a one-tier horizontal grille. Power was from a 225 cubic-inch Slant Six offering 145 horsepower. Other options include a 318 CID V8, 383 CID V8, and 440 V8. The 440 cubic-inch V8 was rated at 375 horsepower.

The most popular Fury was the Fury III with 234,303 examples produced. The 4-door Fury III sedan accounted for 72,747 sales. The rarest Fury was the VIP Fastback Coupe which saw just 1,059 examples sold. This was followed by the Sport Fury convertible which saw just 1,579 examples produced.

The Plymouth Fury I came with a glove box lock, heater, defroster, no side trim, and front fender side nameplates. The Fury II had full-length body side moldings and bright roof side moldings. The coupes had a frameless front door glass.

The Fury III models had vinyl or nylon foam padded bench seat, carpeting, clock, Deluxe steering wheel, and concealed windshield wipers.

The Plymouth VIP Fury models were available as a hardtop sedan, hardtop coupe, and a fastback coupe. Pricing

The Sport Fury models also had concealed windshield wipers, dual paint stripes, red, white, and blue bodyside markers, sport wheel covers, and vinyl front bucket seats with console. For those who didn't want the bucket seats, a bench seat with a fold-down armrest could be purchased.

The Plymouth Fury VIP models were given Deluxe wheel covers, fender skirts, concealed wipers, Deluxe steering wheel, Safe-Flight dash, clock, front foam cushions, die-cast grille, and bench seats with fold-down center armrests. The station wagon body styles had two-way tail gates, vinyl interior, and an integral rear roof deflector.

For 1969, Plymouth produced over 366,620 examples of the Fury, accounting for over 50% of total Plymouth production.
