1923 Aherns-Fox Model 88-4

1923 Aherns-Fox Model 88-4 1923 Aherns-Fox Model 88-4 The Ahrens-Fox doesn't look like most conventional fire trucks. However, in its day the Ahrens-Fox was known as 'the Rolls-Royce' of fire trucks. Simply stated, it was superbly engineered and beautifully constructed. Ahrens-Fox fire trucks were distinguished by the plated sphere that contained air and was used to maintain pump pressure.

Ahrens-Fox was founded in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1910 by John P. Ahrens and Charles H. Fox. During the company's lifetime, through the late 1970s, more than 1,500 fire trucks were built.

The City of New York had a number of Ahrens-Fox fire trucks. Although the city had purchased its last piece of Ahrens-Fox equipment in the 1930s, the trucks continued to be in service in New York City into the 1950s and even later in some cities outside the city.

This fire truck was originally owned by the Lansford Fire Department.
