Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Rounds Off Another Award-Winning Year With Success At What Van? Awards

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has given its 2017 trophy cabinet a final pre-Christmas boost with three top awards from What Van?. The all-new Crafter topped the Large Van category and also went on to claim the overall What Van? Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year Award for 2018. For the second year running, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' website – www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk – was named Website of the Year, while the Caddy and Amarok were both Highly Commended in their respective categories.

The What Van? awards are judged by a panel of light commercial vehicle editors from What Van? as well as experts from whole-life cost and residual value guide, Glass's and leasing giant, Alphabet.

Commenting on the win, editor of What Van?, James Dallas, said: 'The Volkswagen Crafter is the most significant new model to arrive on the UK market during the last 12 months. Once in a while a model comes along that looks as though it could not only be a game-changer for its manufacturer but could also shake up an entire sector's established order. Volkswagen's large van is such a vehicle.'

These awards bring the Crafter's 2017 trophy tally to 11 – on top of the International Van of the Year 2017 accolade presented at the IAA Show in September 2016.

The www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk website also received praise: following an in-depth survey of LCV brands' sites with scores given in a number of categories, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles gained the most points. The judges said: 'Thanks to the new site at volkswagen-vans.co.uk, which looks fresher and is even more functional, van buyers can now arrive armed full of knowledge when they come through the showroom doors to face the hard sell. Overall, this site was a clear winner, with VW having put a great deal of thought and effort into creating the most useful and relevant of online offerings.'
