1946 Mercury Modified

1946 Mercury Modified This car is a recreation of Phil Remington's 1940 Salt Flats Modified. Phil started building the car in his parent's garage and finished in 1946 after serving in the Army Air Corps. Phil raced his homebuilt, single seater at Muroc and Harpers. As all racers do, he continued to improve the car for greater speed. He created a dirt car tail for the car and gained five to six mph. Phil went to work in San Francisco and left the car in his parent's garage. During his absence, someone convinced his parents they had Phil's permission to run the car at an upcoming lakes event. They let him take the car and it was the last time anyone ever saw the car. Dan Webb of Webb Automotive Art had always wanted to build a recreation of the car and did so in 2009. Phil advised Dan with drawings and answering questions. Dan and his team are very talented and produced as Phil says 'a spot-on recreation of his Modified.'
