Customisation, professional service and reliability have proved key ingredients in securing a deal between Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Bournville Village Trust.

For over 100 years, Bournville Village Trust has provided high-quality housing and estate management services to over 8,000 properties across Birmingham and Telford. The Trust is one of the oldest housing associations in the UK with a range of properties including social housing, retirement accommodation and a nursing home, and it also manages a number of parks and open spaces.

The Trust has recently taken delivery of 36 new Transporter vans, which will be used by its service and maintenance team to carry out repairs and general maintenance work on properties from Birmingham to Telford, a distance spanning over 30 miles.

All the new vans are equipped with some of the latest security features including slamlocks and alarms, as well as telematics technology to help deliver increased efficiency and safety for drivers.

With its high quality interior and powerful engine the Transporter offers a comfortable drive, and can tackle motorway driving with ease. It also has a generously sized load compartment, providing outstanding versatility when it comes to moving equipment from job to job. In addition the vans come with bespoke bulkheads to separate the driver from their load.

The Trust's rich history of creating and sustaining flourishing communities means upgrading its service fleet to the latest Volkswagen Transporter vehicles was a natural step to ensure it can continue to deliver the best possible service to everyone living there.

Paul McNamara, Support Service Manager at the Trust, said: 'Our old fleet was in definite need of a revamp and, as Volkswagen is well known for its reliability, it was the perfect choice for our new commercial vehicles.

'We have been able to customise the vehicles to our needs, with features including bespoke bulkheads and telematics technology. And by opting for the Transporter, the size of the load compartment means we can reduce the number of times the team has to shuttle to and from locations, while at the same time ensuring drivers have an enjoyable experience behind the wheel.

'From start to finish I have been impressed with the professional service we have received from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and hope to work with them for years to come.'

The Transporter vans were supplied by Birmingham Van Centre and are funded by Volkswagen Financial Services Fleet on contract hire.
