1997 Ford Thunderbird

1997 was the final year of Ford Thunderbird sales, after having been in production for 42 continuous years. For its final year, the Thunderbird was available only as the LX Coupe with two-doors and seating for five occupants. The base price was $17,900 for the six-cylinder version which displaced 232 cubic-inches and offered 145 horsepower. The 4.6-liter dual overhead cam V8 developed just over 200 horsepower. A four-speed overdrive automatic transmission was standard equipment.

The 1997 Thunderbird had a new instrument cluster arrangement, three new exterior colors (Light Prairie tan, Light Denim blue and Arctic green), and a new Light Prairie tan interior color. They had a decklid spoiler, which had been introduced in mid-1996. A new Sport Package was available as optional equipment, which included a power sliding moonroof and seven-spoke chrome wheels.
