March 6, 2018 by Caterham Cars

Caterham Academy Announces Car Throttle As Media Partner For 2018 SeasonCaterham has announced Car Throttle as the 2018 Academy Championship media partner for the forth coming season.

Launched in 2009, Car Throttle is an online automotive blog with over eight million fans aimed at a younger generation of auto enthusiasts, taking a light-hearted angle on all things car.

Editor Matt Robinson is set to lead Car Throttle's Caterham Academy adventure, with his journey to racing driver kicking off in April at the Aintree Sprint. This will be one of two sprints Car Throttle will participate in, alongside five full-on circuit races at iconic tracks such as Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

Throughout 2018, Car Throttle will report on Robinson's steep learning curve; from his first test in the Caterham to full throttle racing later in the season.

Robinson's Academy story will be shared online at carthrottle.com and across its social media channels with videos and reports documenting his highs and lows during the season.

Tagged as the perfect introduction to motorsport, Robinson won't be the only racing novice to take part in 2018's Caterham Academy series. Having already created over 1000 brand new racing drivers since its inception in 1995, the series is open exclusively to drivers who have no prior racing experience and represents the first rung on Caterham's domestic motorsport 'ladder'.

The series turns novices into amateur racers with fully fledged racing licenses. But they won't go it alone as Caterham provide a full racing introduction prior to a competitive debut.

The journey often doesn't stop there for the graduates as around 75% of Academy racers continue into the Caterham Roadsport category, the next step on Caterham's ladder.

They are one of the fastest growing automotive platforms in the world so if we're looking for a way to engage with car enthusiasts there's no better place.

'With a large proportion of Car Throttle fans in their early twenties, Matt's story could inspire the next generation of Caterham fans and Academy drivers.'

The season commences at Aintree on April 28, with Matt and his specially designed Academy car ready to experience sprint action.
