1978 TOJ SC 206

TOJ, an acronym for 'Team Obermoser Jörg', built their own sports car racers from 1972 through 1980. Jörg Obermoser's works team, which was active in sports, saloon, and single-seater racing, was notorious for wearing the gold and black livery of the Warsteiner brewery. The Saarland-based Warsteiner's backing extended to Harald Ertl and a Hesekth 308 and, later, the Arrows team in Formula 1. The Toj cars wore the Warsteiner's banner in many classes throughout Europe.

The first Group 6 Toj race car was the SS02 of 1974. It used a proprietary chassis by Swiss designer Jo Marquart. Mr. Marquart's resume included work with McLaren and the very competitive M8 Can Am car. He, and several others, would later leave Lotus to form Group Racing Developments (GRD). GRD eventually collapsed, and their F3 project was eventually sold to Teddy Savory, who created a new company, Modus.

The SS02 had a distinctive nose and a high-winged tail. Power was from a BMW M12 engine developing 300 horsepower.
