When World War II came to a close, and civilian automobile production resumed, the Talbot-Lago continued to be known for their high-performance racing cars and for large luxurious passenger cars. Nonetheless, it was a time of economic stagnation and financial difficulty. The company's finances were nearly depleted and they lacked a sufficient customer base to enjoy financial freedom.
Attempts were made to gain customers, including the production of a smaller version named the Baby. Body styles included a two-door cabriolet and a four-door sedan, with the sedan being the more popular version. Power was from a four-cylinder with twin overhead camshafts and cylinder valves on both sides of the engine block.
The lucrative United States market had financial appeal for the company. The Lago 'America' version was built with BMW V-8 power and was one of the final attempts before their ultimate demise.
