1960 Auto-Union 1000

The Auto Union Company was established in 1932. It later became Audi.

The front-wheel drive AutoUnion 1000 was produced between 1958 and 1965. It was the first model branded as an AutoUnion since the 1930s. Power was from a two-stroke three-cylinder engine displacing 981cc and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. On the grille was the old four-ring Auto Union badge and the 'Auto Union' name above it. Body styles included a two- and four-door saloon, along with a 'pillarless' coupe which shared the profile of the saloons. There was also a three-door estate version, branded as the 'Universal,' and was produced between 1959 and 1962.

The Auto Union 1000 Sp appeared in 1958. It was a low-slung two-seater sports car produced by Stuttgart coach builders, Baur. A cabriolet body style became available in 1961. Approximately 6,640 examples were built.
