1978 Seab Flipper

The SEAB (Societe d'Exploitation et d'Application des Brevet) Company was located in southern Paris, France in the suburb of Villejuif. They built a rather successful business building plastic bodies for Citroën's Mehari. Later, they manufactured microcars. Their cars were called the Flipper and were in production from 1978 until 1984. The Flipper I was powered by a 47cc Sachs Adlx air-cooled engine which was located in the front and powered the front wheels. They featured a unique design where the entire front axle rotated around a central pivot. This allowed the vehicle to go into reverse by simply turning the steering wheel all the way around. They had a two-speed automatic gearbox, lightweight ABS Plastic bodies, and acrylic windows.

SEAB offered the Flipper with options that included fiberglass 'humps' which offered both traffic protection and additional cargo capacity.

In 1980, the Flipper II was introduced, followed by the Flipper III in 1984 - which never entered production.

Production of the Flipper lasted through three models, the I, II, and III.

SEAB ceased production in 1984.
