Mercedes-Benz Recognises Young Talent At 2018 Apprentice Of The Year Awards
May 23, 2018 by Mercedes-BenzThe Mercedes-Benz Apprentice of the Year Awards, celebrating the top apprentices from across the retail network, was held on 17th May at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge. The awards recognise young people who have gone above and beyond in their workplace, at the Academy and for their customers. Georgia Parslow, from Mercedes-Benz of Epsom, was awarded 'Passenger Car Parts Specialist Apprentice of the Year', while Charlie Mason was chosen as 'Passenger Car Technician Apprentice of the Year' thanks to his hard work at Mercedes-Benz of North Wales. Kane Hindmarsh, from Northside Truck and Van Sheffield, was awarded 'Commercial Vehicle Parts Specialist Apprentice of the Year' and William Stewart from City West Avonmouth was chosen as 'Commercial Vehicle Technician Apprentice of the Year'. Andrew Mallery, Training Operations Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars UK, said: 'All four winners have gone the extra mile in their work by displaying dedication, positivity and extremely high standards in all areas.' 'We're committed to recognising and nurturing young talent, and preparing them for life in our retail network. Our aim is to ensure every apprentice has the ability to deliver quality technical expertise, in-depth product knowledge and outstanding service to our customers.' The winners were nominated by managers, mentors, assessors and trainers. Candidates were judged according to four different categories including initiative and flexibility; cooperation and teamwork; accomplishments/contributions and quality of work. The four winners will each spend a week working with the MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team in the lead up to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Academy develops young people for the retailer network and has a 93 per cent completion rate with 65 per cent of the graduates still in the network after 10 years. More than 3,200 people have undertaken technician and parts specialist training through the programme since it began in 1995.
