In the 1920s, Carl Borgward became involved with commercial vehicles and cars and in 1929, merged with HANSA-Lloyd. The company was known as Goliath-Werke.

The German car manufacturing company, Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co., was started by Carl F. W. Borgward and Wilhelm Tecklenburg and was a part of the Borgward group. Their vehicles were sold under the Goliath brand. They specialized in three-wheeler cars and trucks and medium-sized cars. Until 1933, three-wheeled vehicles in Germany were exempt from annual tax. Another benefit was that operators of these vehicles were not required to have a driver's license.

The Goliath vehicles were produced in Bremen, Germany, and were positioned between the top-of-the-line Brogwards and the entry-level Lloyd models.

The Goliath-Werke continued until 1959. This particular example is on display at the Lane Motor Museum in Tennessee.
