1966 Aston Martin DBSC

Touring of Milan was tasked with creating a replacement for the aging Aston Martin DB6. Two shortened DB6 chassis were sent Touring and by the time the cars were complete, they wore the company's signature Superleggera coachwork. The lightweight body panels had been fitted over a steel-tube structure and were 400 pounds lighter than the DB6. It was given a 365 horsepower Vantage-spec engine mated to a ZF 5-speed transmission and fitted with a de Dion tube suspension.

The engine was mounted 10.5-inches further back in the chassis. The wheelbase was nearly 7-inches shorter and sat 5.5-inches lower than the DB6.

The cars wore 'DB S' number plates, breaking from the existing nomenclature which, had it followed, would have been called the 'DB7.' The Touring prototypes were later re-designated 'DBSC' by the factory.

One of the prototypes was a left-hand drive example, the other had a right-hand drive configuration. The fastback coupes had seating for two occupants which was a first for Aston martin since the DB4GT.
