The AMC Concord was produced from 1977 through 1983. The compact car served as a replacement for the AMC Hornet and wore styling courtesy of Richard A. Teague. The 1981 Concord was available as a 2- and 4-door sedan, and a station wagon. A total of 55,097 examples were built this year, with the most popular body style being the 4-door sedan. Both the 2-door and station wagon had similar sales figures, with just over 15,000 examples built for each body style. The base engine was an overhead valve four-cylinder unit displacing 151 cubic-inches and offering 82 horsepower. A four-speed manual was standard with an optional column shift automatic available for an additional cost.
